Why there is no shop to visit
The most common reason someone calls a locksmith about a vehicle is that they have no working key. That is precisely the situation where the vehicle cannot be driven anywhere.
A shop based model asks you to solve the towing problem first, then the key problem. A mobile model removes the first problem entirely. The van carries the cutting and programming equipment to the vehicle, the key is made and tested where the vehicle sits, and you drive away in it.
The same logic applies to a house lockout. You are standing outside your own door. Bringing your door to a shop is not an option.
What this means for you
- No towing cost on a vehicle that has lost its keys.
- No waiting on a counter, and no second trip to collect anything.
- You watch the key get tested in the ignition and on the locks before the job is finished.
- Location detail matters more than it would at a shop, which is why every town page explains what to send.
Have this ready before you request service
Every item below either speeds the job up or decides whether it can be done at all. Having them ready at the start avoids a second trip.
- The full address, including a unit or an apartment number.
- Whether you own the property or rent it.
- Proof that you live there or own it, such as a lease, a deed, or mail with your name, plus a photo ID.
- Which door is locked and what type of lock it uses.
- Whether anyone else needs to approve the work, such as a landlord or a property manager.
Questions about coverage
Distance affects how long a job takes to reach, and any travel component is explained when you get your quote rather than discovered on the invoice. What it does not do is change the price of the key or the lock work itself.
If travel would make a job impractical, you are told that up front instead of being quoted for something that will not happen.
Not automatically. This list covers the 48 towns that make up the core service area. Being just outside it does not always mean the answer is no, particularly if you are close to a town line.
Send a request with your actual address and you get a straight yes or no rather than a guess.
No, and that is deliberate. Dante Key Replacement is a mobile service, so we travel to the vehicle or the property. There is no storefront in any of these towns and none is claimed anywhere.
That model exists because the most common situation, a vehicle with no working key, is exactly the situation where the vehicle cannot be driven to a shop.
Because the same job is not the same visit everywhere. A lockout in a Willimantic apartment building, a shoreline association road in Old Lyme, and a rural driveway in Voluntown involve genuinely different access conditions.
Each town page explains what local roads, housing, and access mean for the job, so you know what to send with your request.
Not sure whether you are in the area?
Send your address with the request. You get a straight yes or no, and if the answer is no you are told immediately rather than after a wasted visit.
Or send a service request online if you cannot call right now.
Call or text with the vehicle or the property, the exact location, and what happened. You get an upfront quote and an arrival estimate before anyone is dispatched, and you pay only after the work is done.
